Graphics card for 4K gaming: These models are suitable

The higher the resolution, the higher the hardware requirements: That's how it was long before the 4K era, but that rule of thumb still holds true today. With 4K gaming on the rise, we're introducing some graphics cards that meet the requirements.

4K looks fantastic, but it demands a lot from the graphics card in particular.

Graphics card for 4K gaming: This is what Nvidia and AMD offer

Theoretically, even older, very inexpensive graphics cards are capable of resolving the screen in 4K. However, that does not bring much in practice when the frame rate drops to the basement for it. Thus, graphics cards that can also display 4K content smoothly (i.e. with at least 30 - 40 FPS) are in demand. Another advantage of graphics cards that are specially designed for 4K gaming is the cooling. Even under very high load, the cards remain cool, so that the FPS are smooth and no damage occurs in the long run.
  • With the Asus Rog Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Super OC, you get an energy-efficient, overclocked graphics card that can display 4K content in great detail.
  • The EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming is currently one of the absolute top models among graphics cards. Thanks to the fans and a large GPU, 4K gaming is no problem for this graphics card.
  • From Nvidia, the somewhat cheaper Geforce GTX 1080 Ti and Geforce GTX 1070 Ti models are also recommendable with only slightly lower performance.
  • From AMD, the Radeon RX Vega 64 and Radeon RX Vega 56 are also suitable.
So, it remains the case that the graphics card is currently the biggest price factor for high-end gaming. Anders als bei CPU und RAM sind Grafikkarten außerdem relativ schnell wieder veraltet, was die Investition umso teurer macht, wenn man 4K-Gaming betreiben möchte.
