What to watch after the first season of the Netflix TV series Ginny and Georgia? Here are three alternatives that explore the same themes.
The TV series Ginny & Georgia debuted on Netflix on February 24, 2021, and in just a few days it climbed the platform's charts. The show centers on the relationship between a single mother Georgia and her 15-year-old daughter Ginny, who after a lifetime of moving land, along with her little brother Austin, in a new town in New England.
In many ways, the TV series is reminiscent of A Gilmore Girlfriend, a hit title consisting of 8 seasons and aired since 2000. Ginny & Georgia, however, also has mysterious connotations, which bring it closer to a thriller. In fact, the mother has a difficult past and full of shadows: Georgia tries to hide her secrets and in fact, during the episodes, we will discover that there is even a private detective who stalks her. Some of these secrets are discovered by Ginny, who gradually moves away until she decides to run away from home with her little brother Austin, in the very last episode. While waiting for the second season to be released, you can find several similar series that investigate the relationship between mother and daughter but also about dealing with their roots and teenage problems.
Jane the Virgin on Netflix
Those who loved Georgia & Ginny will feel the same feeling in front of Jane the Virgin. The TV series is about the relationship between Xiomara and her daughter Jane. They are very different in character and often fight to defend their positions. Just like Georgia & Ginny they had to face many problems: Xiomara gave birth to Jane when she was only 16 years old and this slight age difference made them grow up together. She is always there for her daughter and supports her at every opportunity.

The second series that has traits in common with Ginny & Georgia is This is Us. This is a real family drama told on three different time arcs, the cast is choral and embraces different households, couples, people and situations.
In the plot we find of course also the narration of the mother-daughter relationship, the one between Kate and Rebecca. Theirs is a difficult relationship, where you can not communicate: Rebecca is the backbone of her family, she is a person who demands a lot and focuses her attention on her daughter Kate, who instead thinks she is a disappointment to her mother but wants to emancipate herself, find her own way.

The Handmaid's Tale on TIMvision
The Handmaid's Tale is the dystopian TV series inspired by the 1985 novel The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Artwood. Apparently the series is far from Ginny & Georgia, in fact there are really a lot of similar elements.
The series tells the story of June Osborne, the handmaid who lives in Gilead, a regime in which fertile women are kidnapped and given to the Commanders of the regime for the sole purpose of procreation.
From the moment she is kidnapped, her dream is to meet her daughter Hannah. The moment of their meeting is one of the most poignant in the TV series.
