3 series to watch if you liked Bridgerton

After watching Netflix's revelation series, it's time to follow the thread: here are some similar titles to watch on streaming.

Bridgerton is the TV series that has characterized the holiday season: released on Netflix on December 25, in a few days it had a record number of views. This result was partly expected, in fact the show is the first of the many projects born from the millionaire agreement between the streaming platform and Shondaland, the company of the famous American producer and showrunner Shonda Rhimes.

Bridgerton has managed to capture the audience in a few days thanks to a mix of winning elements that we also find in other famous series and novels: there is the mysterious narrator of the worldly events as in Gossip Girl, there is a family composed of different sisters but linked together as in Little Women, there is the English high society of yesteryear reminiscent of the novels of Jane Austen, a touch of the style of Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola, as well as several points of reflection, such as the role of women in society and beyond. These are just some of the qualities of the TV series centered on the love between Daphne and the Duke of Hastings. Those who have finished the TV series and want to continue in this vein have a wide choice. Here are some similar titles.

Downton Abbey on Amazon Prime Video

The TV series is set in the fictional county of Downton Abbey and tells the story of high society and in particular the Crawley family. It all begins after the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, where some members of the family lose their lives. It turns out that their wealth will be inherited by their cousin Matthew, a lawyer in Manchester, a figure that puts the whole family in trouble.

Just like Bridgerton, Downton Abbey is a series in costume and is set during the reign of George V, while Bridgerton takes place during the Regency Era (early 1800s). The events are told in a captivating way: this and other features have led the show to receive numerous awards and recognition. It is said that even Queen Elizabeth and Kate Middleton are fans of the series.

Downton Abbey is available on Prime Video.

Belgravia is a costume mini-series is based on the novel of the same name by Julian Fellows. It is set in the early nineteenth century and begins on June 15, 1815, when the Duchess of Richmond organizes a ball where she invites all the English aristocracy. That, however, will be for many the last opportunity to have fun, because the next day will be disputed the bloody battle of Waterloo. In the series there is no lack of amorous intrigue, lavish costumes, gossip and class struggles, which will surely conquer the fans of Bridgerton and Downton Abbey.

Currently Belgravia has not yet arrived in Italy, but is available on some foreign platforms, such as Epix.

Gossip Girl on Netflix

The third and last TV series (but the list would still be long) that might appeal to lovers of intrigue, mystery and gossip is precisely Gossip Girl. Here we find the modern version of the mysterious writer Miss Whistledown of Bridgerton. She's a blogger whose identity no one knows, and she comments in an ironic and spicy way on what's going on, but most of all she reveals the secrets of the group of acquaintances from her online diary.

Gossip Girl can be defined as the contemporary version of Bridgerton and is available on Netflix.
