Also Asus is ready to launch its top of the line 2021 based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, but the name is not what everyone expected.
It will only arrive next March 10 in stores but, almost a month later, Asus ROG Phone 5 has already made a lot of talk about itself. If the manufacturer has chosen not to provide any information on the technical characteristics of the new device, there has been no shortage of leaks on the net about what will be the new flagship gaming device. Here's what we know so far.
For sure, the official date is not a leak but an announcement made by Asus itself through a landing page, set up for the occasion and already available on the company website. It is, therefore, one of the few certainties so far in the hands of fans who await the arrival of the smartphone on the market. To this, we add a curiosity about the choice of name, with which Asus has chosen to move from version 3 launched in July 2020 to the 5, skipping completely the 4. The choice, it would be due mainly to scaramantiche issues that see a similarity between the pronunciation of the number 4 and the word death in Chinese. A detail not to be underestimated, in view of the marketing on what is now the smartphone market most coveted by manufacturers.
Asus ROG Phone 5, technical characteristics
As anticipated, there is no information on what will characterize the smartphone Asos mainly dedicated to gaming but, given its nature of flagship device, the choice of SoC could have fallen on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. From the websites of the certifying bodies, it appears instead as ROG Phone 5 will mount for certain a 6.78-inch display, all powered by a 6000mAh battery with support for fast charging at 65W.
According to the performance analyzer Geekbench, the RAM should reach even 16GB while the operating system of choice, available at launch, should be Android 11. Per TENAA documentation, the back should feature a camera with a triple module and 64MP primary sensor.
On the same side, a dot-matrix panel should recreate the illuminated logo that characterizes the ROG line. The dimensions of the phone, however, should stand at 172.834 x 77.252 x 10.29mm, showing a not inconsiderable thickness, probably necessary to accommodate the components that will allow him to touch top-level performance.

From the information present on the landing page present on the official website of Asus, the presentation of ROG Phone 5 will be held on Wednesday, March 10 at 7 am local time, 12 am in Italy. In addition to the countdown, the site shows the ROG logo and the possibility to add the event to the calendar, to be followed in streaming right through the web page.
