L’Accademia del Cinema Italiano – Premi David di Donatello e Netflix puntano sui talenti femminili nel mondo del cinema. In order to do so, they have created the new project "Becoming Maestre - a springboard for a new generation of professionals in cinema and seriality".

The goal is to identify the best female talents related to the world of directing, cinematography, but also editing and sound. The aim is to offer a path in which the selected women can refine their knowledge and skills. Four of them will receive a job offer for the realization of a film or a TV series in which the Netflix platform is also involved. This is a huge opportunity to reduce the gender gap that characterizes many industries, including television and film. Applications start on June 23, 2021 and must be submitted exclusively online in the official platform.

Becoming Maestre: who can participate

All women under 35 who want to work in the world of cinema and in particular want to make a career in the following jobs: directors, directors of photography, editors, sound editors and / or mix sound engineers can participate.

Becoming Maestre: how to participate

Interested women can send the application on the official platform of Becoming Maestre. Applications will be reviewed by an exceptional jury composed of teachers and masters of the film industry: Daniela Bassani, Luca Bigazzi, Esmeralda Calabria, Francesca Comencini, Ivan Cotroneo, Daria D'Antonio, Walter Fasano, Francesco Tumminello, Piera Detassis and Francesca Cima.

Tinny Andreatta, Vice President of Original Italian Series at Netflix expressed her satisfaction with the project:

"Seeing Becoming Maestre start today fills us with great joy and we are extremely happy to have conceived and developed this project together with Accademia del Cinema Italiano which, with its president, has long been a spokesperson for the need and importance of supporting and giving space to female voices and talent in our industry.

Many of the professionals who make up the jury will also be mentors during the training course.

Becoming Maestre: what does the training involve

The jury will select 20 women, 5 for each professional field, who will access a six-month course. The course consists of individual tutoring, group workshops, where it will be possible to learn and improve the skills of one's professional field, thanks to the help of exceptional masters and teachers. There will also be collective masterclasses that will allow you to practice the professions that characterize the film industry. Finally, the program includes coaching sessions that will allow the students to refine complementary skills, such as the ability to work in a team or problem solving.

In addition to the masters and teachers will be involved great professionals and personalities of the Italian and international cinema.

At the end of the path will be selected four women, one for each professional field, which will be made an offer to work as an assistant in a series or a film involving Netflix.
