Bridgerton: second season filming has begun

The cast is back in London and ready to film new episodes of the popular costume series. Here are all the sneak peeks.

The cast of Bridgerton is back in London to film the second season of the renowned TV series. The first part distributed by Netflix has conquered more than 63 million users worldwide and remained at the top of the charts for weeks.

The renewal of a second season was therefore predictable, also because the series is part of a much larger project. In fact, it stems from a multimillion-dollar deal between the streaming platform and production company Shondaland, owned by America's most famous producer Shonda Rhimes. Bridgerton represents just one part of the lucrative partnership. But what made the series so captivating? A mix of elements: from the characters to the plot to the setting. In fact, we're looking at a costume show based on Julia Quinn's famous novels. While the first season had as its protagonists Daphne and the Duke of Hastings, the second will focus on another character, his older brother Lord Anthony Bridgerton.

Bridgerton 2: the announcement of filming

"The boys are back in town" with these words the actor Luke Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton, announced on Instagram the start of shooting Bridgerton 2. In the picture we see him on a horse while laughing with Jonathan Bailey, in the role of Anthony. And it seems that the latter will be the protagonist of the second season.

Colin then clarified that the photograph dates back to the filming of the first season, so we do not yet know what will be his role in the second, since at the end of the first chapter we saw him leave for a trip to Europe. However, this post hints at his presence in the new episodes as well. After all, he was one of the main characters in the first season.

Bridgerton 2: plot and news

While the first season of Bridgerton was inspired by "The Earl and I", the first novel by Julia Quinn; the second season instead will focus on the second book in the series "The Viscount Who Loved Me".

The novel is set in the London of 1814. Society, once again, is focused on the new season of engagements and marriages, but this movement doesn't seem to interest Anthony Bridgerton, the family's eldest son and heir to the ancient viscountcy. He is the most eligible bachelor in town, but he has never been interested in marriage, at least apparently. In reality, the man has a great hidden love. This is the basis from which Bridgerton 2 will start.

According to the latest news, there will be a new entry in the cast: Kate Sharma, a woman of Indian descent who will probably break Anthony's heart. She will be played by actress Simone Ashley. For the moment there are no further anticipations, but if everything goes as planned we will see the second season in early 2022 always on Netflix.
