The experimental period of the Christmas Cashback, therefore, is to be considered definitively closed as closed are now the counts: those who do not find transactions made between 8 and 31 December 2020, therefore, can put their hearts in peace. In the screen of IO in which is displayed the accrued cashback, however, there is a graphical error: the point instead of the comma, in the number. A cashback of ten and a half euros, therefore, is shown as 10,500 euros. Obviously this is not the case, since the maximum cashback is 150 euros (and very few will receive it).

Christmas Cashback by the numbers

When the counts are over, we can finally know the national aggregate number and, above all, if the money will be enough for everyone. The answer to the last question is yes, because of the 5.8 million subscribers to Christmas Cashback only 3.2 million have managed to make the minimum ten valid transactions necessary to trigger the refund.

The transactions processed, in total, are over 63 million for an average refund of about 46 euros: only one hundred thousand people (about 3.1% of the total number of participants) managed to accumulate a full cashback of 150 euros.

The total amount of refunds amounts to 222 million, against 219 million available for this first experimental phase. The Vice-Minister of Economy, Antonio Misiani, has already announced that if the funds are not enough, more will be added. Apparently they will have to add very few.

This is both good and bad news: the money is enough for everyone, but only for those who have managed to make the minimum transactions.
