Che il 2016 non sia stato un anno positivo per la sicurezza informatica, e soprattutto per il portafogli di imprese e singoli utenti, lo dimostra anche l’ultimo report dell’FBI, secondo cui le attività poste in essere dai cybercriminali hanno complessivamente provocato danni per oltre un miliardo di euro.
Stando al rapporto annuale del Federal Bureau Investigation, complessivamente sono stati segnalati quasi 300 mila casi di crimine informatico. Un numero che probabilmente è ancora molto più alto, considerando che non tutte le vittime denunciano di aver subito qualche violazione dagli hacker. Individual users have also been scammed
In addition to BEC (Business Email Compromise), a fraud that targets the e-mail inboxes of companies, scams have also affected individual users. The latter is referred to as EAC (Email Account Compromise).
Other crimes were reported to the Internet Complaint Center in 2016, many of them related to payment demands and personal data breaches. The extortions reported to the FBI body collectively took $15 million from victims. Included in this type of cybercrime is mainly ransomware, the dangerous malware that encrypts users' data and demands ransom payments in return.
