Per proteggere una cartella con una password si possono usare le impostazioni native del computer oppure scaricare software esterni.
La privacy non è una cosa da sottovalutare, in particolare quando si parla di web. Anche se siamo abituati a condividere tutto attraverso i social e i sistemi di messaggistica, può capitare a volte di dover proteggere alcuni dati sensibili. Ecco perché è molto importante sapere come mettere una password a una cartella sul proprio PC: in questo modo si evita che altre persone possano accedere a tali dati, salvaguardando la propria privacy.
Che procedimento si deve fare? In questo articolo ti spiegheremo come proteggere una cartella con una password in pochi e semplici passi, sia su Windows che su OS X.
Come mettere una password a una cartella su Windows
Come prima cosa è importante sapere che si può proteggere una cartella con una password in due modi diversi:
- il primo prevede il procedimento tradizionale, senza l’utilizzo di programmi esterni;
- il secondo invece prevede l’utilizzo di software di criptazione.
Partiamo con il primo metodo, il quale non richiede di scaricare alcun tipo di software esterno. In questo caso però bisogna verificare in via preliminare di avere sul proprio PC un programma di compressione come WinZip, WinRAR o simili.
Il primo step prevede la creazione di una cartella, nella quale si dovranno inserire tutti i file che si vogliono proteggere. Una volta creata, si clicca sulla cartella con il tasto destro e si seleziona "Aggiungi a un archivio", in questo modo si aprirà il programma di compressione in automatico. Protect a folder with a password on OS X
If you have a computer running MAC OS X, the procedure for password-protecting a folder without programs is even simpler. Once you have opened Disk Utility, click on File and then New Blank Image. This will open a window that will allow you to choose a custom name for the folder, the location on your computer, the maximum size, the format (journaled by default), the encoding, the partitions and the image format.
It is advisable to leave the format as default, but you will have to select the encoding type (128-bit AES), the single partition (Apple partition map) and the image format "Sparse Bundle Disk Image". After selecting the encryption type, a new window will automatically open for entering the chosen password. Also in this case it is important to select a password of medium or high complexity.
Finally, click on save and finish the process: at this point the folder is created. For a final check, you can go to the folder where you saved it, double-click it and enter the password to open it. To manually enter the files to be protected instead, it will be enough to do a copy and paste operation.
Protect a folder with password with external software
An alternative to the procedures seen above is to use a special software for entering passwords, such as VeraCrypt, both for the Windows and Mac system.
On the MAC OS X operating system you can put a password to a folder using external software such as VeraCrypt, but this requires a preliminary step of downloading and installing such a program. Apart from VeraCrypt there are other external folder encryption software, especially Windows compatible, such as Easy File Locker, HiddenDIR, Gilisoft File Lock and IObit Protected Folder.
Privacy within your own computer is very important and it is recommended to use these encryption methods especially for people who share their PC with others or who need maximum protection of certain files.
