Emily in Paris: the TV series renewed for a second season

Tflix has rewarded the success of the TV series and decided to offer audiences a new season. Here's what we know so far

Emily Cooper arrived on Netflix on October 2, 2020 and in just a few weeks has conquered the public with her adventures in Paris, between a new career in a French communications agency, new friendships and of course a new love on the horizon.

The TV series, born from an idea of Darren Starr, famous creator of Sex and the City has been a good success and this has led the streaming platform to renew it for a second season. Emily in Paris is the romantic comedy that climbed the Top Ten most viewed content on the channel last month. The platform announced the new episodes on social networks accompanying the news with an ironic message in French: "Deux is always better then un", two is always better than two. To drive the success of the title was also the lead actress, Lily Collins, who seems born for the role.

Emily in Paris: the plot of the first season

In the final episodes of Emily in Paris, the young American girl is in crisis: on the one hand she is attracted to her neighbor Gabriel, played by actor Lucas Bravo, but on the other hand she is bound to a deep friendship with his girlfriend, Camille (Camille Razat).

The two are attracted and have a sort of clandestine relationship without Camille's knowledge, and this is probably a theme that will be explored in the second season. In addition, many fans can expect to hear about young Emily's career progress as she grows and brings new ideas and perspectives to the communications agency where she works.

What Emily will be talking about in Paris 2

Darren Starr has revealed some previews of the plot, confirming that it will be about the painful love triangle between Emily, Camille and Gabriel.

The creator, once again, has put an emphasis on the cultural differences between French and Americans that will also be covered in the new episodes. He himself talked about it in a recent interview:

"That, to me, is such a fun thing to explore in season two, because here we're not talking about Americans. They're French. To me, a big part of the beauty of the series is looking at everything through a different lens. Season 2 will pave the way for some surprising relationships."

Actress Lily Collins is also very pleased with the work she's done and can't wait to get back on the set.

Currently, there's no word yet on when filming can begin, partly because France is hit with a new wave of contagion and that has halted work.

In the meantime, fans are wondering if the second season will include as many references to Sex and the City as the first one.

In the meantime, you can watch the first season of Emily in Paris on Netflix.
