Facebook changes the terms of service: the news

The social reserves the right to remove content that could cause her lawsuits in court, but users openly speak of the end of freedom of expression

From October 1, 2020 change the terms and conditions of service of Facebook and already many speak of "end of freedom of expression online". The social of Mark Zuckerberg is warning in these days its users (at the moment the American ones) with a pop up message that is making a lot of discussion, especially for the addition of a new condition not foreseen before.

An addition that, to many, seems only the attempt of Facebook to protect itself from possible legal controversies for the contents shared by its users.

Basically, starting in October, Facebook will be able to delete or make invisible one of our posts, videos, or photos if it feels that leaving that content online could cause some legal heat for the company. The problem, however, is that it is a preventive control: if Facebook considers the content at risk it will delete it, before having received any warning from the authorities.

End of freedom of expression?

Many people think that these new terms of service represent the beginning of the end of freedom of expression on Facebook. Until now, in fact, freedom on Facebook has been practically absolute and at most the blue social network has been criticized for the content it hasn't removed, rather than for the content it has removed.
