Foldable smartphones: Oppo will launch 2, one in 2021, the other in 2022

Oppo's race to the top of the world's smartphone manufacturers will grow in pace through two foldable ones, which will arrive soon

Oppo's business has experienced incredible growth in recent years. Before arriving in Western markets, Oppo was already in the top 5 of smartphone companies in the world with only the Chinese market, while after its debut in the Old Continent its climb to the top has undergone a surge.

This is certainly an ambitious company, and you can see it from news like today: Oppo would have ready two foldable smartphones to "fight" on equal terms with historical companies and battleships such as Samsung, which on foldable should be a few years ahead of the competition thanks to Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. The Korean advantage does not scare Oppo, which wants to try to absorb part of the demand aimed at the foldable market. So the company has wasted no time, and very soon we will see the two foldable smartphones that will be available to those who want to buy a product that smells of the future.

One of the two arrives in December

According to the latest rumors coming from China, Oppo would then "in the barrel" not one but two foldable smartphones. And the good news is that it will not be long before we see them: the first will arrive by the end of 2021, while the second in the first part of 2022.

Rumors on the subject had already emerged at the end of last month, but it seemed unlikely at that time that the company had foldable in the home stretch. Instead, the latest rumors seem to support precisely the hypothesis that on the first seemed less likely: the first foldable smartphone from Oppo would arrive during December 2021, probably in the middle of the month.

His codename, according to the information collected, is Peacock and will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chip, while the upcoming Snapdragon 898 will equip the foldable Oppo of 2022, currently known as Butterfly. Rumors have even managed to get their hands on a couple of technical specs for either product, but unfortunately, at least for now, we don't know which one they're referring to.

How will the Oppo foldable

One of the two foldable smartphones from Oppo will have a screen with OLED LTPO technology, the latest that is able to keep low power consumption and therefore have a longer battery life than in the past thanks to the ability to modulate the refresh rate as needed, so keep it on very low values in the case of static screens or raise it up to the peak (often 120 Hz) in the case of activities that require great fluidity such as games.

And if there is no indication about the number and type of rear cameras of the foldable Oppo, the main one we know the model: it will be the IMX766 50-megapixel sensor manufactured by Sony, while for selfies and video calls we expect a 32-megapixel sensor on the front surface. The battery will be 4,500 mAh, a capacity not very high these days but still supported by fast charging wired to 65 watts.

Almost taken for granted instead the adoption of the user interface ColorOS 12 based on Android 12. Eyes on December then, when we should discover the first foldable smartphone from Oppo.
