New rumors about the Galaxy Fold 2: the smartphone will have a special protection for the screen and the best chipset on the market
There is much anticipation for the Galaxy Fold 2, the new foldable smartphone of the South Korean company and in recent days have been spread new rumors by Ross Young, CEO of DSCC and founder of DisplaySearc. The anticipations reveal new details about the characteristics that should have the screen of the Galaxy Fold 2, the nerve center of the device. Samsung, in fact, would use the Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) coating capable of increasing the resistance of the glass of the screen.
The foldable display of the new Galaxy Fold 2 will thus have the UTG already used in the Galaxy Z Flip, in addition to the protective film already present on the first model. The design used for the Galaxy Fold 2 should be very similar to that of the first model, with a free opening and the screen that, fully open, will have a diagonal greater than 7.5 inches. Confirmed support for the SPen, while the features will be those of a top of the range.
Galaxy Fold 2: the technical characteristics
Ross Young also dwells on what should be the final technical characteristics of the new Galaxy Fold 2. Apparently, the display should have a diagonal size of 7.59 inches with a resolution of 2,213×1,689 pixels, 372 dpi, a refresh rate of 120Hz and an LTPO panel. The secondary (external) screen would instead have a diagonal of 6.23 inches, a resolution of 2,267×819 pixels, a refresh rate of 60Hz, an LTPS panel and a small hole that houses the front camera.
The main novelty of the Galaxy Fold 2 would be related to the use of the S Pen. The Galaxy Fold 2 would thus be Samsung's first foldable smartphone with a flexible screen to support the S Pen without, however, specifying whether its use will actually be available on both displays. The heart of the new Galaxy Fold 2 would be the Snapdragon 865 chipset with a storage capacity of 256 or 512 Gigabytes. The photographic sector should provide a front sensor from 10 megapixels set in a small notch and a quadruple camera with ToF sensor at the rear.
Galaxy Fold 2: release date and colors
The Galaxy Fold 2, unless postponed due to the current health emergency, should be launched presumably during the summer, perhaps during the month of July. Four colors planned: Blue, Silver, Black, Pink.
