Galaxy Fold, problems with the foldable display: launch postponed

With an official statement Samsung has postponed the release of the Galaxy Fold by a few weeks: here's why

The release of the Galaxy Fold, Samsung's first foldable smartphone, has been postponed by a few weeks. The confirmation comes directly from the South Korean company that has published on its official website a press release explaining the reasons for the decision. The Galaxy Fold should have made its official market debut on April 26 in the United States, while in Italy was expected for May 3.

The problem of the smartphone concerns the screen and the hinge that allows the display to fold. Last week the smartphone was given in test to some experts of the sector and since the beginning the Galaxy Fold had shown some problems that affected its use. In some cases a part of the flexible screen had stopped working, while other experts had removed the protective plastic of the display, damaging it irreparably. Following the reports received, Samsung has decided to postpone the release of the Galaxy Fold by a few weeks to improve the hinge and make the smartphone less fragile.

Why the release of the Galaxy Fold has been postponed

To understand the reasons that have forced Samsung to postpone the release of the Galaxy Fold by a few weeks you have to read the statement published by the South Korean company. "While many reviewers shared with us the vast potential they see, some also showed us how the device needs further improvements that could ensure the best possible user experience. To fully evaluate this feedback and run further internal tests, we have decided to delay the release of the Galaxy Fold. We plan to announce the release date in the coming weeks" (While many experts have shared with us the great potential of the device, some have also pointed out to us how the device needs further improvements that could ensure the best possible user experience. In order to fully evaluate this feedback and perform additional internal testing, we have decided to delay the release of Galaxy Fold. We expect to announce the release date in the next few weeks).

In the release, it is also explained that Samsung will perform thorough checks at the top and bottom of the hinge to prevent the entry of unwanted material that can ruin the display. In addition, Samsung will try to communicate more effectively the fact that the protective film of the flexible screen should not be removed, otherwise the panel could be damaged and become unusable.

When will the Galaxy Fold be released

Samsung has not communicated when the Galaxy Fold will be released on the market. The press release only refers to a generic "in the coming weeks". The South Korean company wants to do extensive testing in order to bring to market a device that is truly functional and durable. It will most likely take the beginning of summer to see the Galaxy Fold on the market.
