Galaxy S10 Lite, what the macro camera is for

The Galaxy S10 Lite is ready to make its official debut, but you'll have to wait until 2020. Here are the features and release price

It had to arrive by the end of December 2019, but it seems that it will arrive only in early 2020, the new smartphone Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite of which so much is being talked about in recent weeks. This device will have very interesting technical characteristics, so much so as to push many to wonder what role it will play in the 2020 range of Samsung.

Slightly after the Galaxy S10 Lite, which will join the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy S10e, will also arrive the new top of the range Samsung Galaxy S11. The big doubt concerns the positioning of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite compared to the Galaxy S10e: the first, in fact, will have better technical features, a larger screen and, above all, will have more cameras (and sensors with more resolution). Among the lenses, then, there will be a macro camera, something unprecedented for a model in the Samsung range. And many wonder why Samsung chose a macro lens, instead of a more desirable telephoto.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite Vs Galaxy S10e

The Galaxy S10 Lite will be better in practically everything than the Galaxy S10e: the screen will be 6.7-inch SuperAMOLED (versus the 5.8 AMOLED of the S10e), the SoC will be the Snapdragon 855 (also on the European market, unlike the S10e which in Europe mounts the Exynos 9820), the RAM will be 8 GB (versus the 6 GB of the S10e) and the ROM will be the same 128 GB expandable. The Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite will then have a 4,500 mAh battery with 45-watt super fast charging, versus the Galaxy S10e's 3,100 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite: the macro camera

And then there's the question of the cameras: the Samsung Galaxy S10e has a front lens and two rear ones, 12 and 16 MP, while the Galaxy S10 Lite at the rear will have a 48 MP main lens with optical stabilizer, tilt type, accompanied by a 12 MP ultra wide sensor and an additional 5 MP macro sensor. Precisely this last sensor is the real novelty of the Galaxy S10 Lite, since until now Samsung had never produced a smartphone with macro lens.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite: how much will it cost?

At this point, with these technical specifications, it is clear that the crucial factor to understand what role the Galaxy S10 Lite will have in the range of Samsung will be the price. Current guesses speak of around €699, which is much less than the €799 official price of the Galaxy S10e.
