Galaxy S9 with facial recognition and four cameras

The first rumors about Galaxy S9 features are coming: the smartphone will have thinner edges and the fingerprint reader under the screen

The 2017 is now heading to the end and by now most companies have presented their smartphones (the last surprise could be reserved by the release of the OnePlus 5T). As it happens every year, the period from November to the end of February (the beginning of the Mobile World Congress) is dedicated to rumors and rumors about smartphones coming out in 2018.

One of the most anticipated smartphones of next year is definitely the Galaxy S9. This year Samsung and LG have been the undisputed protagonists of the great change that happened in the world of smartphones: the Galaxy S8 and LG G6 introduced a new design where the bezels are thinner to make room for larger and longer displays. If bezel less smartphones made their debut in 2017, 2018 will be the year of confirmation. And the Galaxy S9 can only be one of the most anticipated smartphones of next year.

The first rumors are starting to arrive about the Galaxy S9 and the various components that it will be able to mount. Some enthusiasts have also begun to make the first renders of the Galaxy S9 thanks to the information collected so far. The smartphone should roughly follow the path traced last year: the design will be even more extreme and in the front will find place two cameras including a 3D facial recognition. But the biggest news will be under the screen: the Galaxy S9, in fact, could be one of the first smartphones to integrate the fingerprint reader in the display. Samsung is working on this project, but there is still no certainty that it will be implemented on the next top of the range South Korean. Here's what the Galaxy S9 will look like.

Technical features Galaxy S9

It's still too early to tell what Samsung's top of the line will mount. But it is possible to make some predictions, also following what has happened in the last year. The Galaxy S9 should mount an internally produced chipset with characteristics similar to those of the Snapdragon 845. In support we will find 4GB or 6GB of RAM and at least 64GB of internal storage. The size of the screen will be similar if not identical to those of the Galaxy S8: 5.8-inch display for the normal version and 6.2 inches for the Plus model.

A novelty should concern the photographic compartment that should be composed of four sensors: two front and two rear. In the front one of the two photo sensors will be dedicated to facial recognition, a solution similar to that seen on the iPhone X. For the protection of the smartphone, Samsung is working to implement the fingerprint sensor directly inside the display. A truly innovative solution, but one that needs time to be developed and optimized. In case the Korean company fails to do so, the reader will be placed under the dual rear camera.

Outgoing Galaxy S9

Pe radesso these are rumors and it will be necessary to wait the next few months to see if they will be confirmed. But one thing is certain, Samsung is working hard to make even more "extreme" the Galaxy S9. Release date? March 2018 or at most the following month. Difficult that the South Korean company anticipates the presentation during the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona.
