At 45 kilometers from the finish line, the race goes up towards Terento, third category GPM of 6.6 kilometers with an average gradient of 7.6%. After the descent, the most difficult climb of the day begins (4.5 kilometers with a gradient of almost 9%) that will take the cyclists to Anterselva, the home of Italian biathlon. And it is just inside the biathlon stadium that is fixed the arrival of the seventeenth stage of the Giro d'Italia 2019.

The departure from Commezzadura is fixed at 12:20, while the arrival in Anterselva is scheduled for 17:00-17:30 (depends on the pace of the group).

The route of the seventeenth stage Commezzadura-Anterselva lends itself to attacks from afar. It's very likely that a breakaway will arrive with at least a couple of minutes of advantage. What will the favorites to win the 2019 Giro d'Italia do instead? It will all depend on how much strength they have in their legs after yesterday's stage. Vincenzo Nibali has to recover over a minute and a half from Carapaz, who appeared very solid and with a luxury domestique like Mikel Landa on his side. Bahrain Merida could set a hellish pace on the last two climbs in the hope of putting the Maglia Rosa in trouble. Primoz Roglic is also called to give an answer after the last disappointing stages.
