Google Pixel 6a is still quite far from launch, but the rumors already have a lot of information: here's how it will look
Google Pixel 6a appears in the first rumors with stylistic solutions closely derived from those of its older brothers, the recent Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. That is not surprising, because it is Google's habit to recall the distinctive elements of the top of the range even on mid-range smartphones in order to create a kind of family feeling.
In other words, Pixel 6a like its older brothers should be immediately recognizable compared to any other Android smartphone. Which, just this year, is far from bad news. On the Pixel 6, Google made some bold choices that seem to have paid off, since the public was mostly enthusiastic about the designers' original solutions. So on Google Pixel 6a should be replicated the horizontal rear "band" that contains the cameras and LED flash, and separates the surface into two different areas with different colors. The same approach should distinguish the opposite surface, with a flat display from the narrow bezels inside which was obtained the hole, central, for the selfie camera.
Google Pixel 6a will have dimensions "human"
On the front of the technical specifications, the first information that arrives on the account of Google Pixel 6a tell that it will be used an OLED screen 6.2 inches, slightly scaled then in terms of diagonal compared to its predecessor and older brothers. However, it will integrate the fingerprint reader, a welcome "achievement" compared to previous mid-range Pixel that have relied on a physical reader on the back, judged by many as little in step with the times.
From a display all in all contained, at least in light of the current trend, will derive a smartphone from the size as "human": the rumors provide 152.2 x 71.8 x 8.7 mm, thickness that grows up to 10.4 mm to want to consider the area of the rear cameras, while in the lower area of the profile there would be a USB-C input, a microphone and a speaker, which together with the earphone capsule could achieve the stereo effect.
What chip for Google Pixel 6a?
There is still uncertainty instead of the chip of Pixel 6a, which Google could make in house as done for the older brothers. It's not so easy, since the Pixel 6's Tensor is a high-end chip, which Google could hardly exploit on Pixel 6a: the company would have to make a Tensor from scratch, and if there's no time or it's judged uneconomical according to rumors, it would fall back on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 778G.
Anyway, regardless of the choice on the chip, on Pixel 6a there should be 6 or 8 GB of RAM, along with 128 GB of storage space. The main rear camera, as has been the case in the past, should be the same as on the high-end Pixel, so the 50-megapixel Samsung Isocell GN1 from the Pixel 6.
