Google Stadia officially presented: how much does it cost and what games

During the Stadia connect Google, the Mountain View giant has unveiled costs, minimum specifications and games of its gaming platform

Finally unveiled to the public the new online gaming platform Google Stadia that, in the plans of Big G, should revolutionize the way we use video games convincing us to say goodbye to consoles in favor of a 100% online experience.

During the dedicated Stadia Connect event, Google explained (almost) everything you need to know: subscription price, technical requirements to play at different resolutions, games available since the launch date, scheduled for November 2019 in 14 countries (including Italy) for the Pro subscription only. The basic subscription, on the other hand, will arrive next year but the price has not been revealed yet. Also presented the Stadia Founder's Edition boundle and unveiled the data bandwidth needed to play online. Finally, Google has also launched a tool to do the speed test of your connection and know up to what resolution we can play without slowing down.

Google Stadia: how much does it cost

From November will be available the subscription Stadia Pro that, at a price of 9.99 euros per month, allows you to play at 4K and 60 FPS, with 5.1 surround sound. You will be able to purchase games at any time, but there will be games available for free on a regular basis. Stadia Pro users will also get exclusive discounts on select games.

From next year, however, it will be possible to purchase a Stadia Base subscription, which for an as-yet unknown price will allow you to play up to 1080p and 60 FPS, with stereo sound. Games will have to be purchased one by one and at full price: there will be no free titles, nor discounts on a selection of games.

How is Stadia Founder's Edition

The Stadia Founder's Edition package can already be pre-ordered at a cost of 129 euros, but will physically arrive in our homes in November. It includes three months of Stadia Pro subscription, a Buddy Pass to give to a friend to play together, a Google Chromecast Ultra and a Stadia Controller in a limited edition night blue color.

Google Stadia: technical connection requirements

Google Stadia will be an online gaming service, which means that to play we will receive a very high data flow through the Internet. Google has made available an online tool (actually a speed test) through which we can understand in a few seconds what performance we will get on Stadia using our current connection https://projectstream.google.com/speedtest . Generally speaking, the requirements to play the game are:

-Resolution 4K at 60 FPS, HDR Video, Surround 5.1: 30-35 Mbps

-Resolution 1080p at 60 FPS, HDR Video, Surround 5.1: 20-25 Mbps

-Resolution 720p at 60 FPS, Stereo: 10-15 Mbps

Google Stadia: first available titles
