Home internet, the offers of Tim, Fastweb and Wind in comparison

The analysis of the best rates proposed by Tim, Fastweb and Wind. The biggest differences between the plans are the extras and the speed of the fiber lines of the managers

The home internet offers are unifying in terms of services offered. If in the past flat phone and internet combination was only one of the possibilities, now it has become a practice to offer customers a subscription plan that includes unlimited phone calls.

The coverage of TIM

If we look only at the percentages, the leader of the fixed network remains TIM, the operator in fact owns 43.2% of the market share. It is followed by Vodafone, with about 16% of the lines, Fastweb (15%), Wind-Tre (14%) and Linkem (3.6%).

  • traffico verso numeri nazionali fissi e mobili illimitato
  • 4 interventi di assistenza tecnica in 1 anno
  • TIM Vision Plus
  • opzione Smart Home

Fastweb Casa a 29,95 euro

For an additional €5 per month, users can also activate the international option and have 1000 minutes of conversations to foreign numbers.

Fastweb's solution includes the FASTgate modem, where available the activation of FTTH (fiber to home) or FTTC up to 200 Mbit/s, and WOW FI, a Fastweb public Wi-Fi network service that through access points allows you to surf with the operator's line even outside the home. Among other services included are call alerts, disabling of special numbers and call transfers.

Fibra 1000 by Wind is the most convenient

Also that of Wind-Infostrada is a promotion of the new line in FTTH, but that is also available for FTTC customers. At the moment the Fibra 1000 promotion is on offer at €26.98 per month, the full price of the monthly fee for this tariff would in fact be around €32. The cost is certainly one of the elements on which the operator is focusing to gain customers on the competition.

In fact, not only proposes fiber to 1 Gigabit/s at the lowest price among the three operators in analysis, but after 4 years of contract will bring the fee of customers to 21 € per month. Included in the offer plan is, again, unlimited voice traffic, modem and an online gaming service. Among the extras that Wind offers more than its competitors are a sim with 100 GB of internet traffic for mobile devices and Amazon's Echo Dot.

What is Echo Dot?

Echo Dot is a smart device that allows you to connect smart devices at home and the virtual assistant Alexa. Thanks to this support, it will be possible to manage some functions of these devices. You will be able to request the playback of music, information about weather or programs aired on TV, you can also manage the lights remotely if the home system is prepared.

The operation of this device is quite simple. Instead of having to use the computer or the remote control, it will be enough to ask Alexa to listen to a song or start streaming a video. The assistant can also manage shopping lists, alarm clocks and alarms, tells jokes and anecdotes or can answer messages and calls.

Which operator offers the fastest connection

The ones seen so far are the commercial data, the ones that are advertised by operators to convince customers to switch from one operator to another. At a first glance so the offers all seem very similar. The surfing speeds are the same and everything is played out on prices and services. Deepening a little more however it is discovered as the lines in reality do not have the same power or the same coverage.

In a recent research Vodafone resulted the operator with the fastest line, with a download speed of about 40 Mbit/s, follows Fastweb with 39.60 Mbit/s, then Wind (38.45 Mbit/s), only fourth Tim at 27.49 Mbit/s).

Fastweb has doubled its speed

In the comparison between a year and the other Fastweb has been the operator that has implemented more the speed of its connections, passing from 26 Mbit/s to 39.60 Mbit/s. A good increase also that which has marked the Wind lines, the average speed test has risen from 38.73 Mbit / s to 38.45 (+33.83%). Tim among the three was the operator that has increased less its results by bringing the speed from 21.54 Mbit / s to 27.49 (+27.60%).

In order to understand what are the actual speeds guaranteed by the operators with the contracts you go to sign is important to read in the general conditions what are the minimum speeds guaranteed. Even if everyone promises fiber at 1 Gigabit/s, in reality TIM's minimum bands are 250 Mbit/s in download and 50 Mbit/s in upload.

Wind, according to what is reported by the data of the authority's misurainternet service, guarantees a band up to 100 Mbit/s when downloading data and about 20 Mbit/s in upload. For the 1 Gigabit/s fiber optic Fastweb, as the same operator reports in the technical section dedicated to the connection speed, offers a minimum speed of 100 Mbit/s in download and 25 Mbit/s in upload.
