How the automatic transfer from Facebook to Google Photos works

Also in Italy, the possibility of transferring to Google Photos the images present on Facebook has been added. Here are all the steps you need to follow

A few years ago, when there was no Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Photos with all their free or semi-free GB of cloud space on which to store anything, many of us used Facebook to have an online archive of our photos taken with our cell phones.

Nowadays, many fewer people do it because, in the meantime, the services already mentioned have arrived, among which Google Photos is undoubtedly the most used to store our photos. For two simple reasons: if we settle for "high" quality (which is not bad at all: 16 MP for photos and 1080p for videos) and do not set the storage in original quality, then we have infinite free space and, what's more, the smartphone does everything by itself and we do not even have to select the photos to save in the cloud. But how to transfer the old photos that we had put on Facebook and that are not yet on Google Photos?

How to transfer photos from Facebook to Google Photos

In fact, if we do not want to edit the photos that we have stored over time on Facebook, transferring them to Google Photos is very simple. Just go to Facebook from your web browser (it's the most convenient solution), click on Settings > Your Facebook information and then click on "Transfer a copy of your photos and videos". We'll be asked to enter our Facebook password and then we'll have to choose the Google Photos destination. We'll be able to choose whether to transfer photos or videos (you can't transfer both at the same time, we'll have to do two steps). After clicking "Next" Google will ask us to allow the transfer. When we give the okay to do so, the procedure will begin, which will take quite a while if we have a lot of photos and videos to transfer.

A second option, instead of the automatic transfer from Facebook to Google, is to download photos and videos to our hard disk. It is useful to upload content to a service other than Google Photos or, in case it is necessary, to select one by one the images to upload. In the same screen where we have to choose the destination of our photos, instead of clicking on Google Photos, we'll simply select the option to download photos. Again, if photos and videos will be several, it will take quite a while.
