How the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will look like

The new Huawei phablet will be presented in Munich on October 16, but some features have already leaked: the Mate 10 will mount the new Kirin 970 chipset

After the Galaxy Note 8 and the LG V30, only the Mate 10 by Huawei remains at the appeal of the new Android phablets to be presented. The Chinese company has already made an appointment for October 16 in Monaco, when it will take the veils off the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, two smartphones with top of the range features and characterized by a very large screen.

Huawei will be called to respond to the innovations introduced by major competitors in recent months: Samsung, LG and Apple, have embraced the new 18:9 image format, with displays that occupy an increasingly larger part of the front of the smartphone. The only company that was left behind was precisely Huawei, which with the Mate 10 will run to the remedy and at the same time is ready to introduce substantial innovations in its devices. At IFA 2017, the main European trade fair dedicated to technology, the Chinese company presented the chipset that will be mounted on the two smartphones: the Kirin 970.

Features Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro

A little more than a month after the official presentation, the first rumors about the new Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro begin to arrive. The two smartphones will be very different from the model presented last year: to make room for the new 18:9 screen that occupies 90% of the frontal space, the Chinese company had to completely change the design of the device.

The main feature is the display that should have a diagonal of 6 inches and a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels in the Mate 10 Pro and a size of 5.9 inches with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels in the Mate 10. In terms of internal features, the base model of the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are expected to mount the Kirin 970 chipset, supported by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Mate 10 is expected to be launched in three different configurations, while the Mate 10 pro in four versions, including a premium model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The battery will be 4000 mAh. Some rumors also confirm the presence of facial recognition, but for the moment the feature has not been confirmed.

The smartphone will also receive IP67 certification, which will make it resistant to water and dust.

Camera Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro

The two smartphones will not only have a top-of-the-line technical compartment, but also photo sensors that are hard to find on other smartphones.

The camera compartment, in fact, will be inserted in a strip of lighter shade than the rest of the body. Also referring to the new images, the Mate Pro could be presented in three different colors: blue, gray and brown.

EMUI 6.0

The Mate 10 will use the new EMUI 6.0 GUI based on Android Oreo 8.0. Some rumors have emerged regarding the user interface, which partly help to understand some of the features present in the new Huawei smartphones.

In fact, information about the version of EMUI 6.0 for the Mate 9 is circulating on the web. From what is rumored, it seems that Huawei has decided to include in the GUI most of the features of Oreo 8.0. In EMUI 6.0 there will be, for example, the famous Picture-in-Picutre function, the control of background apps and the new notifications system. In addition, there will be a tool that will allow you to lower the display resolution, so as to reduce battery consumption. It will be possible, in fact, to switch to 1280 x 720 pixels. The EMUI 6.0, according to those who managed to test the new GUI, will also allow you to replace the classic navigation bar with new dock, a button that can be moved on the screen.

Dock for PC

The Huawei Mate 10 will almost certainly have a system similar to DeX, the dock that turns the Samsung Galaxy S8 into a desktop computer. In fact, reports circulating on the web claim that on October 16, the day of the presentation of the two new smartphones, Huawei will also announce a device to stream apps on screen and use the smartphone as if it were a PC. According to rumors, the dock station will mount a display port and will also support Miracast, a wireless technology that allows you to share content between multiple devices.

Price Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro

Some rumors from China have also anticipated what the prices of the various models of the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro might be.

The base model of the Mate 10 with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage is expected to launch at 4299 yuan, at current exchange rates around 550 euros. For the 128GB version, however, the price increases to 625 euros. The Mate 10 with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage will be priced at just over 710 euros.

The Mate 10 Pro will be priced slightly higher coming in at up to 1000 euros. But let's go in order. For the model with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, the price will be around 700 euros. The version with 128GB of storage will cost just under 800 euros, while the model with 256GB of internal storage will need to shell out 880 euros. The Mate 10 Pro will also come out in a premium version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage: for this model the price is around 1000 euros.
