How to hide orders and purchases on Amazon

In this article we'll explain how to hide orders on Amazon, even with the app. Find out with Free Technology everything you need to know!

Why should you hide your Amazon orders? Think about the case when you and your partner share an account on this marketplace and Christmas is approaching. If you want your gift to be a surprise, you definitely need to make your purchase "hidden". Amazon allows you to temporarily obscure, at least until you decide to make it visible again, your purchases.

You can then hide a single order from your history, while being able to restore it at any time. You can also hide an entire list by making it private, turn off notifications from the app, and archive an order.

Come nascondere ordini su Amazon

The orders you have hidden, in fact, will always be available to you if you search for them within your account.
To view the orders you have previously hidden, go to "My Account" > "My Orders" and next to the item "X orders placed" you will find a drop-down menu where as the last option you will find "Archived Orders". If you want your order to be included again in the Order History, click on "Cancel order archive".

You can archive up to 500 orders. An order is defined as all the products you bought at once, so if you bought a watch and a computer at the same time (thus in the same order) you can archive both and not just one of them.

Hiding Amazon orders with the app

Unfortunately, you can't hide Amazon orders with the app. In both iOS and Android, you have the option to view the order history but you won't find the option to archive. The only way to do this from your smartphone or tablet is by logging into your Amazon account via your mobile device's browser. This way you'll have access to the responsive version of the Amazon website, which also provides for order archiving.

From your smartphone you can still turn off order status notifications and disable SMS for a single shipment by going to "My Orders" and clicking on "Track My Package" within the relevant order. You will see the option to disable SMS Notifications for this shipment.

Definitely delete an order or history

Although you can black out your orders made over time in a special list (which anyone can access if they have your login credentials) you cannot permanently delete them. This applies to individual orders as well as your entire order history: Amazon keeps track of all orders, including purchase dates, amounts, and types of purchases.

The reason you can't hide Amazon orders permanently is because at any time support needs to be able to trace an order you've placed over time in case of disputes. For this reason, Amazon does not allow you to permanently delete your order history.

Share only some products with a list

If you want to share some particular products, perhaps intended for the arrival of a baby in the family or ideas for a birthday gift, you can create a list and share it with other Amazon accounts.

  • SOLA LETTURA: far vedere i prodotti in lista
