Tired of WhatsApp? Sudden desire for privacy? No problem: there are alternatives and it's also easy to import contacts and groups from the Facebook app.
Despite the recent reassurances of WhatsApp, which states that almost nothing will change in Europe for the privacy of its users even if they accept the new privacy policy that comes into force from February 8, there are many users of the instant messaging platform of the Facebook group who are starting to think about changing app. There are plenty of alternatives, but Signal is one of the ideal candidates if privacy is a priority.
It's a proven fact that Signal collects virtually no data on user behavior, limiting itself to recording only the phone number that serves to identify the user. The app, on the other hand, has everything users could need: from robust end-to-end encryption (Signal is named after the Signal encryption protocol) to the ability to create group chats. Just the group chats and all the contacts we have on WhatsApp, however, are a big doubt for users of Zuckerberg's app: is it possible to transfer contacts and groups, quickly and easily, from WhatsApp to Signal? The answer is yes, here's how to do it.
How to install Signal
After downloading Signal and installing it, before starting to use it we will be asked for a six-digit security code that the platform will send to the number we have indicated. Due to the large number of users who are switching to Signal from WhatsApp in recent days the time to send the code has lengthened considerably. It takes some patience.

Come trasferire contatti e gruppi da WhatsApp a Signal
Una volta installata e attivata l’app, possiamo usarla e iniziare a trasferire i nostri contatti e gruppi da WhatsApp. Non c’è una procedura automatizzata, ma farlo è semplice e veloce: basta generare un link e inviarlo via WhatsApp a chi vogliamo far migrare su Signal.
Dobbiamo innanzitutto creare un nuovo gruppo (diamogli lo stesso nome del gruppo ex WhatsApp, sarà più comodo) aprendo il menu principale dell’app in alto a destra (i classici tre puntini in verticale). Per creare un gruppo dovremo inserirvi almeno un contatto manualmente, per tutti gli altri sarà più facile.
Apriamo il gruppo e apriamo il solito menu, poi andiamo su Impostazioni Gruppo > Link del Gruppo e attiviamolo, poi facciamo tap su Condividi e copiamo il link che è stato generato.
A questo punto ci basterà incollare quel link nel gruppo WhatsApp che vogliamo portare su Signal e invitare tutti a cliccarlo. Chi non avrà ancora Signal dovrà installarla e attivarla prima di poter completare la procedura che lo porterà ad essere un nuovo membro del vostro gruppo Signal.
