In the first part of the race the cyclists face a 47.3 kilometer long track to be repeated twice, then they will head towards the finish line in Compiano where they will enter the final circuit of 12 kilometers to be repeated ten times. In the final circuit there is the climb of Strela, 5.1 kilometers long with slopes up to 10%.

At the start there are all the most important Italian cyclists. One name above all: Vincenzo Nibali. The "Shark of the Strait", after the second place at the Giro d'Italia, will also be present at the Tour de France, and the Italian championship will serve to test the form. Great attention also on Alberto Bettiol, Diego Ulissi, Giovanni Visconti, Fabio Aru and Giulio Ciccone, winner of the jersey of best climber at the Giro d'Italia.
