Nella lista dei partenti ci sono tutti e tre i cavalli che hanno vinto il Palio lo scorso anno, quando le corse disputate sono state tre a causa del Palio Straordinario dedicato al Centenario dalla fine della Prima Guerra Mondiale: Rocco Nice, Porto Alabe e Remorex.
Porto Alabe, cavallo vincitore del Palio del 16 agosto anche nel 2016 e nel 2017, è stato assegnato alla Civetta, mentre Rocco Nice correrà per la Torre.
