Huawei nova 8i is official in Italy: here's everything you need to know between features and price, including the practical repercussions of the well-known US ban
Huawei is back to make itself heard in Italy in the latter part of 2021, and does so with nova 8i, a product that is in the mid-range of the market. It won't be the only one judging by the fact that the company announced a few hours ago a European event from which, in all likelihood, will come out the Huawei P50.
Let's get this out of the way right away: all Huawei products lack support for 5G infrastructure and especially Google services and apps, despite the fact that at the base of the EMUI 11 user interface of Huawei nova 8i there is still Android 10, old yes but of relative importance since EMUI historically covers everything. The reason for the heavy absences is known, namely the "cold war" between Huawei and the United States. And if the lack of Google services and apps can be remedied through the proprietary ecosystem that the company has set up in record time, the lack of 5G connectivity is not, so Huawei nova 8i is aimed at those who do not show interest in the new networks.
Huawei nova 8i: technical specifications
Huawei nova 8i features a Snapdragon 662 octa core 2 GHz maximum frequency chip manufactured by Qualcomm. Only one memory variant planned by the company, at least at the time of launch: there are 8 GB of RAM available and 128 GB of space in which to store documents, photos, games and various applications.
The display is a 6.67-inch LCD unit with Full HD resolution, so very convenient for ample to see multimedia content even on the go. On the same surface, in a hole located in the upper left corner of the screen, is the 16-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
On the rear surface there are instead four cameras: a 64-megapixel main camera with f/1 aperture.9, an ultra wide-angle 8-megapixel f/2.4, a macro 2-megapixel f/2.4 and finally one for enhancing portraits 2-megapixel f/2.4.
On the connectivity front, only 5G is missing, on which Huawei for now is in clear difficulty due to the known problems with the United States. So Huawei nova 8i has: 4G LTE Dual-sim, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (dual band), Bluetooth 5.0, headphone input with 3.5 mm jack, assisted GPS. It lacks NFC, and having to do without Google Huawei has implemented its own virtual assistant Histen.
Dimensions of 161.85 x 74.7 x 8.58 mm for 190 grams of weight.
Huawei nova 8i: availability and price
After being announced in Malaysia, Huawei has decided to bring the nova 8i to Italy announcing its availability and price.
The new Huawei nova 8i is available immediately for purchase in Moonlight Silver and Starry Black colors.
The list price is set at 349 euros.
