Huawei P50, the top of the range without Android is coming

The next top of the range of the Chinese giant is on the launch pad: here's how the family of smartphones Huawei P50 will be and how powerful it will be.

The P50 series of Huawei is almost on the home stretch.

The P50 series of Huawei smartphones is almost on the home stretch. Waiting for official communications from the manufacturer, increase in the network the rumors about what will be the characteristics of the highly anticipated devices of the Chinese manufacturer that, for the first time, could arrive without Android.

The latest information in order of time on the smartphones of what will be in fact the new top of the range series of Huawei concern the render, through which it was possible to have a closer look at what will be the design that will characterize the smartphone P50, or P50, P50 Pro and P50 Pro Plus. A trait d'union between all models is the display, with curvature at the corners for the base model, a cascading screen for the P50 Pro and curvature provided on all edges for the Pro Plus. To arouse more curiosity, however, is undoubtedly the question of the operating system, as well as the technical characteristics on which we still know little or nothing.

Huawei P50, the probable technical characteristics of the series

From the rumors spread on the net, the top of the range series of the Chinese company should bet everything on the proprietary 5nm Kirin 9000 processor, already seen in action on the Mate 40 Pro. Practically almost at the level of Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100, it is an octa-core that takes advantage of three cores, including the primary one, with Cortex-A77 architecture at 3.13 GHz, flanked by three Cortex-A77 cores at 2.54 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.05 GHz (1+3+4 architecture).

The other information leaked so far then refers to the memory configuration of the devices. The P50 line should be available with different RAM sizes, 6GB, 8GB and 12GB; the internal storage space should also differ, with two proposals of 128GB and 256GB respectively.

In addition to the part strictly related to the design, a few rumors appeared on the net talking about a 6.6-inch OLED screen, with QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. In any case, this data could be limited to the Pro version of the P50 and, consequently, might not concern all the other models in the range.

Huawei P50, from Android to Harmony OS?

This is definitely the focal point regarding the P50 series: obviously we're talking about the operating system of which, to date, little or nothing is known. The only leaks available at the moment speak of a version dedicated to the Chinese market exclusively with Harmony OS, Huawei's proprietary operating system, while for others the basic idea should be that of a device available in both versions.

If this seems unlikely, however, it is necessary to emphasize how Harmony OS, announced in the second part of 2019 and now at version 2.0 for smartphones, would have much in common with Android. In fact, there are many developers on the network who, according to the verifications carried out on the beta version of Harmony, have confirmed the similarities between the two operating systems.

Huawei has promptly denied the information, strongly emphasizing that it is not a copy of Android nor, much less, of iOS. For further confirmation, therefore, we can only wait for the first tests of use that, given the timing, could arrive in the coming months.
