FIFA 18: This is what the release fee means
To get a player from another team into your team in FIFA 18, you have two options. Either you have to negotiate with the player's team about signing him or buy him for a specified sum. This sum to be paid to buy a player is called the release sum. If you pay this sum, you can bring any player you want into your team. The amount of the release fee depends on the player. This is how you can sign players without paying a release fee
To get players into your team without paying a release fee, it makes sense to sign pre-contracts. However, to conclude a pre-contract some conditions have to be fulfilled.- So the current contract of the player must not be valid for more than six months. Since all contracts in FIFA 18 are always valid throughout the year, the conclusion of pre-contracts is only possible in the winter transfer period.
- In addition, the conclusion of a pre-contract is only allowed with players who are at least 23 years old.
- To find a player whose contract duration is less than six months, navigate in the menu to "Global Transfer Network" > "Orders" and enter 0 to 1 year for the contract duration.
- Thereupon you will be shown a list of all available players and you can conduct salary negotiations with suitable players.
