iPhone 11 Pro inductive charging - how it works

Like the other two models in the 11 series, the iPhone 11 Pro also has an inductive charging function as standard, which allows you to charge the smartphone completely without a cable. You can find all the important information about the practical charging function in our guide.

How the wireless charging of the iPhone 11 Pro works

To charge your iPhone 11 Pro inductively, you need a suitable Qi charging station. You can get inexpensive charging stations online or in specialized stores for around 20 euros. The most important thing when buying a charging station is that it is compatible with your iPhone. Therefore, pay particular attention to the manufacturer's compatibility specifications.
  • The Qi charging coil is usually built into the back of your iPhone 11 Pro.
  • Inductive charging works via contact. If you place the iPhone 11 Pro on the charging station, the charging process begins automatically.
  • To ensure that the contact to the charging station is not interrupted or can be established at all, your smartphone case must not be thicker than 5 mm.

Refitting inductive charging on older iPhones

Apple smartphones have only had an inductive charging function as standard since the iPhone 8. However, if you have an older iPhone, there is the possibility of retrofitting the practical technology with the help of special retrofit kits. Such kits usually consist of a Qi coil that you connect to your iPhone via the Lightning port. To fix the coil on the back of the iPhone, it is best to use a thin case.
