How avocados help you lose weight?
In general, high-calorie foods are not the best way to get rid of those unwanted life rings on your hips. But a study by the Center for Nutrition Research at the Illinois Institute for Technology now shows that avocados have a special effect on our eating behavior. The focus was on overweight men and women who were asked to make small adjustments to their breakfast. The most important innovation: energy-giving carbohydrates were replaced in the study by avocados, which contain just as many calories. Accordingly, the combination of fat and fiber had surprising effects in the area of the candidates' feeling of hunger. The study shows that although the total number of calories consumed remained about the same, subjects who ate a half to a whole avocado in breakfast felt more satisfied and fuller for longer (up to 6 hours) than participants who relied on carbohydrates." So far, few studies have looked at the interaction of different components. But especially the combination of fiber and fats, as found in the avocado, could help a decisive advantage in losing weight overweight people. The fruit's properties are thought to delay nutrient absorption in the digestive process and regulate the feeling of hunger. Laboratory analyses support the subjective feeling of the test persons: The scientists found in measurements that insulin and blood sugar levels were stabilized and the hunger-regulating PYY hormone was increasingly released. One thing should not go unmentioned, however: The study was supported by funding from the Hass Avocado Board. Positive reports on the avocado are obviously in the area of interest here.Happy Avocado Salt & Pepper Shaker
