Cancel Xbox Live Gold: How it works

A subscription to Xbox Live Gold is a requirement to access all online features of Xbox games. If you are no longer interested, you can simply cancel the subscription. We show you how.

Cancel Xbox Live Gold: Online easily

To cancel Xbox Live Gold, follow these steps:

1. Go to this Microsoft page. There you will see all your services and subscriptions.
2. Under Subscriptions, Xbox Live is listed, including all the important information, such as when the next billing cycle begins. To cancel the subscription, click on "Deactivate automatic renewal".
3. The next step is to enter the password of your Microsoft account.
4. Then you will be asked if you really want to deactivate the automatic renewal. Click on "Confirm cancellation".
5. Alternatively, you can also log on to the Xbox Live website with your credentials. There you cancel Xbox Live Gold under "My account > Subscriptions > Xbox Live > Cancel automatic payment".

You will then receive a message that your but will not be automatically renewed. You will also find out when access to online features will end. If you change your mind after cancellation and want to continue using the service, you can activate the automatic renewal again at the same point. In doing so, your previous payment method will be adopted.
