Chromecast no sound - these are the possible causes

The Chromecast receives signals sent from your smartphone, tablet or PC via the Internet. This allows you to conveniently broadcast your screen, videos and more. If you do not hear any sound in the process, there may be various causes.

Defective devices as a possible problem

The Chromecast is connected via HDMI. Through this connection, images and sounds are transmitted at a very high frequency. So, if your Chromecast cannot play sound, you should try to change the HDMI port. If another port does not work, you should additionally check if another device works in combination with your TV. This will rule out the possibility that there is a defect in your TV.

What could be the reason that your Chromecast does not output sound?

If your Chromesst has no sound, follow these steps to solve the problem:
  1. Test another HDMI input first to rule out a defect in the port.
  2. Next, connect another device via HDMI to make sure your defect is not with the TV.
  3. See if you have muted your TV.
  4. If you have a soundbar installed, check if it is connected properly.
  5. Reset your Chromecast to Wake settings. The function can be found in the settings of the app via the menu area with the three dots.
If everything does not work, the defect will be your Chromecast itself. Contact the manufacturer and have the Chromecast replaced if necessary, provided it is still in the warranty period.
