If the quad core processor only runs on one core, this can have various causes. Often a faulty system configuration comes into consideration for this, so check the processor count settings. Also set the affiliation for individual applications.

For example, if you have noticed via the task manager that your quad core processor only runs on one core, check your system configuration.- Open the system configuration by pressing [Win]+[R] simultaneously. Then type the command "msconfig".
- Click on the "Start" tab and open the advanced options.
- Under the first menu item "Processor Count", you now specify the desired number of processor cores.
- Save the changes with "Ok" and restart your computer.
Specify number of processors for individual applications
If only individual programs run on only one core, open the Task Manager.- Under "Details", right-click on an application that runs on only one core.
- In the context menu, click "Specify membership".
- In the small menu window that now opens, all checkmarks should be set. If necessary, activate the options manually.
