Resetting iPhone X via iTunes: Instructions

To fix technical problems or prepare your smartphone for sale, you can reset your iPhone X via iTunes. In doing so, you will delete all data such as photos, contacts and settings.

Before resetting iPhone X via iTunes

If you plan to sell your iPhone X after resetting it, it is important that you disable "Find my iPhone". This is because the new owner of the device will not be able to log in with their own Apple ID otherwise. You can find the option by tapping on your name at the very top of the settings and then opening the "iCloud" menu.

Return to factory settings on computer

1. First, connect your iPhone X to your computer. To do this, use the included cable that fits into your iPhone and into a USB slot on your computer.
2. Then launch iTunes.
3. You may now enter your code, if you have previously set one. Just follow the instructions on the screen of your iPhone.
4. After that, select your iPhone X in iTunes and click on the "Overview" menu.
