Can I use my Bluetooth speakers in the car?

Modern cars are often equipped with a multimedia system that allows you to pair your smartphone with the radio via Bluetooth. This allows you to stream your favorite music or make hands-free phone calls. If the Bluetooth function is missing, you have several options to still use the technology.

Bluetooth speakers in the car

One simple option is a Bluetooth speaker that you place in the vehicle. With it, you can then connect your smartphone and thus listen to music.
  • Depending on the equipment of the Bluetooth speaker, it may even have a hands-free function that allows you to make calls without having to take your hands off the wheel.
  • Bluetooth speakers are usually powered by an integrated battery. With a suitable adapter for the cigarette lighter, you can even power the speakers in the car. Note that this may discharge the car battery. Therefore, charge the speakers only while driving.
Because of the noise in the car, you should use a Bluetooth speaker that has an appropriate volume.

Bluetooth radio retrofit

If it's not too much trouble for you, you can also replace the installed radio in your car with a newer model that has Bluetooth and Co. Cheap radios with such equipment you can get for as little as 25 euros. Instead of retrofitting a complete radio, there are also other alternatives, such as a Bluetooth FM transmitter.
