Samsung Galaxy A80 navigation - how to use it

You can replace the familiar three-button navigation on your Samsung Galaxy A80 with gesture control. In addition to some operating advantages, gesture control provides more space on the display, since the controls are largely invisible in contrast to three-button navigation. You can activate the different navigation modes in the settings.

Enable gesture control - this is how it works on the Galaxy A80

To use gesture control on the Galaxy A80, you need to enable it in the smartphone's settings.
  1. Call up the application screen by swiping down from the top edge of the display with your fingers.
  2. Open the Settings app (marked with a gear icon).
  3. Switch to the "Display" category in the settings.
  4. Tap the "Navigation bar" item afterwards.
  5. Activate under the item "Navigation Area" via the slider the option "Gestures at full screen".

How gesture control works

When gesture control is active, the usual navigation bar at the bottom of the screen disappears. Only the home button and the back button appear when touching the bottom screen, the latter even only when it is of use.
  • Pull the home button to the right, scroll through the most recently used apps.
  • Swipe your fingers all the way up, you land in the application screen. Swipe only halfway up the screen, you get an overview of the most recently used apps.
  • Hold down the home button for a long time, you activate the Google Assistant.
  • About a short touch of the home button, you return to the home screen.
In the navigation settings, you will find an overview of the gestures and can even customize some.
