The countdown has begun, in a few hours Apple iPhone 13 arrives with a range consisting of four models: revolution or evolution?
The wait is over: today, at 19:00 Italian time, Apple will present the new iPhone 13 range during the event "California Streaming". An event from which, perhaps, will also come other Apple products such as the new Apple Watch 7 and the new AirPods 3 headphones. Less likely, however, the presentations of iPad 9 and iPad mini 6. But no matter: the focus today will be all about iPhone 13.
Rumors and rumors about iPhone 13, on the other hand, in recent months we have seen dozens of them circulating. Not all of them came from reliable leakers, but some of them did and they all went in the same direction. Per questo ci sono alcuni aspetti di iPhone 13 che sono già quasi certi, come il design e il processore, mentre altri non lo sono al 100% e, infine, altri ancora sono da ritenere assolutamente improbabili. Quello che è ormai praticamente certo e universalmente accettato, però, è ce iPhone 13 non sarà una rivoluzione ma, piuttosto, una evoluzione dell’attuale iPhone 12. Quest’ultimo, d’altronde, è stato un modello importante per Apple: il primo con connessione 5G e quello progettato e costruito durante uno dei periodi più difficili per l’industria dell’elettronica, alle prese con la pandemia e la crisi dei chip. Ma come sarà iPhone 13? Ecco cosa ne sappiamo già, a poche ore dall’annuncio ufficiale.
iPhone 13: la gamma
Iniziamo col dire che, con iPhone 13, Apple seguirà uno schema identico a quello già visto su iPhone 12. Ovvero quello di presentare una gamma composta da quattro modelli:
- iPhone 13 mini – Display da 5,4"
- iPhone 13 – Display da 6,1"
- iPhone 13 Pro – Display da 6,1"
- iPhone 13 Pro Max – Display da 6,7"
iPhone 13 mini, tra i quattro, è quello che avrà il futuro più difficile: raccoglie la sfortunata eredità di iPhone 12 mini, che ha venduto pochissimo. iPhone 12 mini, infatti, in teoria è uno smartphone geniale: piccolo e leggero (è il più piccolo smartphone 5G in circolazione), ha la qualità e le stesse caratteristiche dei fratelli maggiori. In pratica, però, ha scontato la duplice penalizzazione del prezzo alto e dell’autonomia bassa. Si dice che iPhone 13 mini sarà l’ultimo “mini" di Apple: o la va o la spacca.
iPhone 13: il SoC Apple A15 Bionic
Altra cosa certa è che su iPhone 13 debutterà il nuovo processore Apple A15 Bionic, evoluzione dell’attuale A14 Bionic. This will result in longer battery life on all iPhone 13 models, as well as more speed for apps.
iPhone 13: the display
The display has always been one of Apple's most curated technical components on iPhones. For the screen, however, the rumors are in disagreement: there are those who say that all models will be equipped with a screen with adaptive refresh rate at 120 Hz, with the valuable LTPO technology that allows you to lower and raise the refresh rate at the hardware level (which saves a lot of battery). This screen should be produced by Samsung, which already uses it on the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Other rumors, however, say that the LTPO screen there will be only on Pro and Pro Max, if at all, only on the Pro Max.
iPhone 13: the cameras
On iPhone 12 Pro Max we have a much better photo department than that, however good, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. The hypothesis circulating so far is that the higher quality components of iPhone 12 Pro Max will be carried over to the entire iPhone 13 range, which will then have larger and brighter sensors. On the Pro Max, however, should debut a new periscope zoom with higher magnification.
There is also talk of the possibility of bringing on all iPhone 13 range the optical stabilizer of the cameras at the sensor level and not the optics, which is less effective on long focal lengths but more suitable for point-and-shoot that is, after all, the typical daily use for the camera of a smartphone.
iPhone 13: charging
Finally, we expect a substantial increase in battery capacity on all models in the iPhone 13 range, to increase the autonomy of the devices, which has always been the Achilles heel of iPhones. It will remain, however, MagSafe wireless charging on all models. The current iPhone 12s have a rather low wireless charging power of 15W, and an increase of at least a dozen watts is expected.
