Immaginate di poter prendere in mano un iPhone e spostarlo liberamente dentro un Apple Store senza che scatti l’allarme. Un sogno? Non proprio. Apple infatti sarebbe pronta a rimuovere quei noiosissimi cavi bianchi che ancorano i device ai tavoli sui quali sono appoggiati.
L’esperimento è partito la scorsa settimana a Londra, quando i clienti dell’Apple Store hanno trovato una sorpresa: i security tethers erano spariti. Una mossa rischiosa che l’azienda reputa fondamentale per migliorare l’esperienza che i clienti vivono quando varcano le porte di uno dei tanti Store sparsi per il mondo. Cupertino infatti sostiene che la rimozione dei cavi aiuterebbe le persone a impugnare un dispositivo nel modo più corretto possibile. The move raises some questions. The first and maybe the most important one revolves around the way Apple intends to protect its expensive devices once it will no longer be able to rely on security tethers. According to some sources, Cupertino's security system would be based on a series of "invisible" measures. Let's start listing some of them. First of all, the video surveillance cameras. The Apple Store in London would in fact have a large number of HD cameras that are difficult to detect.
The devices produced by the Californian company would also have a kill switch able to disable all the functions of a device as soon as it leaves the Wi-Fi range of the Apple Store.
Through this feature, Apple will be able to dispense with using the Find My Phone feature as the device itself will automatically disable itself.
