LG G8 ThinQ, the smartphone that is controlled by gestures

The new LG G8 ThinQ smartphone works thanks to a movement of the hand. Find out how it works and all the features of the device

LG Electronics is among the companies featured at Mobile World Congress 2019, the event held in Barcelona from February 25 to 28, 2019. The Korean company has organized an event to present its new devices, including the new LG G8 ThinQ smartphone, a revolutionary device that is controlled by gestures.

The credit goes to the different integrated technologies, among which the Z Camera and Air Motion technology stand out. Their combination allows the phone to recognize specific manual movements and turn them into concrete actions. For example, a gesture is enough to start or stop a phone call. The smartphone also integrates a revolutionary unlocking system, which uses the hand's venous system. In short, LG G8 ThinQ seems designed to intrigue and win over consumers around the world. It will probably be launched on the market by summer.

LG G8 ThinQ: control your smartphone with a gesture

The new G series presented at MWC19 includes the two smartphones LG G8 ThinQ and LG G8sThinQ. The new LG G8 ThinQ offers an unrivaled user experience, thanks to the integration of cutting-edge technologies.

First of all, the innovative Z Camera located on the front of the device stands out. This is governed by Air Motion technology that detects the movements a person makes in front of the screen and turns them into specific actions of the device. Without touching the screen you can start and stop phone calls, change the audio volume, take screenshots, photos and open applications. Without a doubt, this is the truly revolutionary aspect of the new LG smartphone. But the Korean company did not stop there.

The device includes a feature called Hand ID that reads all the physical characteristics of the hand, and ensures the unique identification of the user. This feature is absolutely more secure than fingerprint recognition, because it analyzes the veins present in the hands, including shape and thickness. Just register your hand and place it in front of the phone to unlock it and control the smartphone with gestures.

LG G8 ThinQ: Z Camera and other technical features

The Z Camera ensures high quality photos and videos. This happens thanks to an infrared system that reads the face in 3D and takes frontal photographs. This technology can be used in all lighting conditions.

At the inside of LG G8 ThinQ is also integrated for the first time the Portrait function for videos and frontal photographs. For example, selfies in Portrait mode are extremely sharp and accurate: the camera lens measures the distance to the face and adjusts the background up to 256 levels of blur.

At the important new features of the G series, the OLED display also stands out. In addition to this, there is a dual-speaker stereo with DST:X that significantly improves listening to music, hands-free calls and audio in general.

The power and speed of the device are guaranteed by the Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

In the back there is a photo module consisting of three sensors: the main one is 12 Megapixels, then we find the 13 Megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 12 Megapixel telephoto lens. The battery is 3,550mAh.
