LG Velvet 2 Pro: the top of the line we’ll never be able to buy

LG has disengaged from the smartphone business, and products like the LG Velvet 2 Pro will never see the light of day. If not that of YouTube, as it happened

The first LG Velvet, presented not even a year ago, was well received by critics and customers. The Korean smartphone had convinced for design and performance, except for a price that in Italy was not, so to speak, popular. But smartphones depreciate quickly, and LG Velvet had taken just a couple of weeks to reach the ideal balance between performance and price.

So everyone was waiting with curiosity for the second generation and even the LG designers had started work on the new project, but it will never arrive. LG has in fact decided to disengage from the smartphone business saying goodbye to the mobile phone business, so LG Velvet 2 Pro will never see the light. Has seen the light of the prototype smartphone, what rumors and insiders called LG Rainbow and that once released on the market would be known as LG Velvet 2 Pro. One of the pre-production units ended up being the protagonist of an unboxing video on YouTube, during which it shows itself in all its charm and allows you to live that exciting experience of unboxing that no "mortal" will be able to live for the disengagement of LG.

The specifications of LG Velvet 2 Pro

Broadly speaking LG Velvet 2 Pro highlights the same stylistic structure of its predecessor. For the display, to hear rumors, would be used a 6.8-inch Plastic OLED panel with Full HD + resolution, refresh rate of 120 Hz and support for HDR10.

Front-facing 10-megapixel camera in the hole in the display that would replace the teardrop notch, while at the rear there would be three cameras: the main 64-megapixel with optical image stabilization, the ultra wide-angle 12-megapixel and a telephoto 8-megapixel. To ensure an autonomy as prolonged as possible would have thought the battery of 4,500 mAh with fast charging.

Always to take for good what has been gathered from rumors, LG would have put in the account a "bandwidth jump" between the model of last year and the one that would debut this year: everything was ready to move from Snapdragon 845, top of the range chip, of course, but at the time of the launch "old" two generations, the Snapdragon 888 which is the best chip from Qualcomm for 2021.

The approach of LG

An unmistakable signal of the approach that LG would have liked to take this year, less timid than in the past and potentially more appealing to the end consumer, both on the technical and stylistic level, since those who have been able to see closely LG Velvet 2 Pro guarantees on the build quality and materials from absolute top of the range.

An approach, however, that LG probably could not have afforded: putting aside the considerable overheating that LG Velvet 2 Pro would have highlighted according to Front Tron, and that probably, as is often the case, would have been resolved before the launch, the company would have had difficulty not inconsiderable to establish itself in the highest end of the market populated by names like Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, which, in the meantime, have carved out a strong position or have consolidated it over time.

Probably LG Velvet 2 Pro in the guise of top of the range would have trudged along in terms of numbers in a crowded market like the current one and would have brought LG more problems than profits.
