Mi Band 5, coming with new features: what are they

The Mi Band 5 is ready to debut on the market. Here's all the latest news on the features of the smart bracelet

The Mi Band 5 takes more and more shape: with each passing day comes new information that allows the "painting" to take shape. After the passage to the Chinese certifying body and the latest anticipations coming from the East, the features of the Mi Band 5 have almost all been revealed. The new activity tracker will be a further step forward compared to previous models, with an even larger screen and new features dedicated to the health of your body.

The latest rumors concern two features of the Mi Band 5: support for NFC technology and Alexa. As for the first aspect, European users will be disappointed: the NFC module will probably be present only in China, while for the European market we'll have to wait for the next versions. Interesting, however, is the support for Alexa: with the smart band will be possible to control smart devices in the house and interact directly with the voice assistant.

The features of the Xiaomi Mi Band 4

The Mi Band has established itself in recent years as one of the most popular smart bracelets in the world. The reason is quite simple: low prices and excellent quality. And with the Mi Band 5, the policy will be the same: top-of-the-line features and a low-cost price.

The activity tracker is expected to have a 1.2-inch color OLED display that will cover all the available space on the front. This will allow users to set up animated backgrounds and get even more information under control, starting with steps and distance covered. There's also news regarding the health aspect of your body: the heart rate sensor will also be able to measure blood oxygenation, a parameter that has become vital with the outbreak of the pandemic.

Bad news, however, regarding the presence of the NFC module. Initially, it was thought that the version of the Mi Band 5 with NFC support could also arrive in Europe, but it will not be so and will remain confined to China. So no digital payments, at least for now.

Finally, it is rumored that Alexa support will also be present, with the ability to control other smart devices in the house. There is no certainty, however. of the presence of the microphone.

When the Mi Band 5 comes out

Last year the Mi Band 4 was launched in mid-June, but for this year Xiaomi is unlikely to meet the same deadline. Coronavirus is to blame, as usual: the Chinese company will probably launch the Mi Band 5 between August and September.
