The dual-screen smartphone Microsoft Surface Duo has finally arrived and users in the United States have been able to pre-order. Starting from September 10 they will start receiving it, but the foldable smartphone could arrive late in Europe and therefore also in Italy.
The Redmond company has not released official dates for the launch of the Microsoft Surface Duo on the European market, but according to rumors the intention is to wait and see how the new foldable smartphone will be received on the U.S. market. Microsoft doesn't want to produce more devices than it can sell and for this reason the Surface Duo could arrive on foreign markets, and even in Italy, perhaps by mid-2021, according to Zac Bowden of Windows Central. A large launch window, but if sales in the U.S. will go well, the timing could shorten.

The Microsoft Surface Duo is already available for pre-order in the U.S. on the site of the Redmond company at a price of $ 1399 for the version with 128 GB of storage space and $ 1499 for that of 256 GB. Shipments for those who have already ordered it will start from September 10, but the release date outside the U.S. market is not yet certain.
After all, the foldable smartphone has already been certified for distribution in Canada, Japan and Europe, which is why the arrival in Italy does not seem to be in question. To weigh on the launch choices of Microsoft there are several factors, including the hardware of the Surface Duo, which can count on a Snapdragon 855 with excellent performance, but still lower than the performance of other smartphones sold at the same price and equipped with newer and more powerful processors.
This would be one of the reasons why before extending the sale to the European market, and Italy, Microsoft will wait to see the trend of sales in the United States. The output then could be by mid-2021 even by us, but if the launch date will be too moved forward in time then in Italy could arrive directly the successor Surface Duo 2, which would already be in development.
Microsoft Surface Duo, the features
The Surface Duo from Microsoft is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and 6 GB of RAM, and is available in two versions of internal storage of 128 GB and 256 GB. The foldable smartphone can count on two AMOLED displays of 5.6 inches each, which when hinged open form an 8.1-inch screen. There's no shortage of a fingerprint sensor, while the 3577 mAh battery supports 18W fast charging. In addition, it supports Android 10 and also the main features of Microsoft 365. A device designed especially for the business user market and that also works with the Surface Pen (which is not included in the price, however).
