New Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 tablets challenge Apple iPad

Unveiled on the Chinese market, the new Xiaomi Mi Pad 5, Mi Pad 5 Pro and Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G will give Samsung and Apple's models a run for their money.

After taking the podium as the first smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi now aims at the tablet market and after three years of silence comes out with three new models: Mi Pad 5, Mi Pad 5 Pro and Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G. These are three devices presented together with the latest top of the range of Xiaomi: Mi Mix 4.

The tablets are 11-inch, with very interesting technical specifications and, above all, with an extremely advantageous price (although with the usual premise: if they arrive in Europe they will cost more). Since Xiaomi is serious about attacking the high end of the tablet market, there is no shortage of accessories for the new Mi Pad 5 such as the cover with 63-key keyboard and a good level nib, which weighs just 12 grams. This is therefore a new generation of Android tablets, with which Xiaomi wants to offer its customers a real alternative to both Samsung's tablets and Apple's tablets with iPadOS.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro: features

Both new tablets from Xiaomi have an 11-inch screen with 2560×1600 pixel resolution (2.5K) and 120 Hz refresh rate. The Mi Pad 5 is based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 SoC, the Pro on Snapdragon 870. These are two high-end chips with technology from last year, still absolutely performing.

Memory is identical on both models: 6 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage in fast UFS 3.1 technology. Also identical is the 13-megapixel main rear camera, but the Pro also has a 5 MP secondary, and very similar battery: 8,720 mAh on the Mi Pad 5, 8,600 mAh on the Mi Pad 5 Pro.

As the name implies, the Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G is the Pro version with a built-in 5G modem. But that's not all: on this model the main rear camera is an impressive 50 MP.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro: how much they cost

The prices of the new Xiaomi tablets, in China, are very interesting. They start from around 260 euros for the regular Mi Pad 5, to a maximum of 460 euros for the Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G.
