Nokia 9.2 Pure View, the front camera will be revolutionary

The Finnish manufacturer would like to carve out a "place in the sun" by bringing to market a device with front camera under the display

For a few days Nokia is back in the news following several rumors, from different sources, about a new range of smartphones coming in 2020. Nokia, according to these rumors, is thinking among other things to cancel the PureViview 9.1 in favor of a PureView 9.2 equipped with SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. Now, then, the rumor comes even another relating to the front camera of this future top of the range.

The source of this latest rumor is the site NPU, Nokia Power User, which reports what we learned from confidential sources. According to NPU Nokia would be testing two options for the selfie camera, both aimed at eliminating the notch: the first option would be a pop up pop up camera, the second would be an "under-display" camera, that is incorporated into the screen of the display. Both options would have pros and cons, but they don't have the same probability of becoming reality. The only thing that is certain, however, is that HMD Global has found a great way to return to make people talk about the Nokia brand, once glorious but that today is much less thriving than in the past.

Nokia 9.2 PureView: how will the camera

What has been leaked so far about the photo compartment of the next Nokia PureView 9.2 is that it will most likely be made in collaboration with Toshiba. However, this collaboration could also be limited to just image processing and not also image capture. The pop up camera hypothesis would be easy for Nokia to implement, because the technology is more than mature by now and has already been implemented by more than one competitor.

The under-screen photo sensor hypothesis, on the other hand, is much more fascinating but much less feasible anytime soon. Because there is not yet a mature and ready technology to implement. It is also true, however, that such a feature would make the Nokia 9.2 PureView stand out among all the top-of-the-line smartphones of 2020, which will all have the Snapdragon 865 SoC and very similar performance.

Nokia 9.2 PureView: technical specifications

Always from rumors, we learn that whatever front camera Nokia chooses for its next top of the line, in any case the 9.2 PureView will be a phone with good technical features. In addition to the Snapdragon 865, in fact, it will have 6/8 GB of LPPDDR4X RAM and 128/256 GB of storage. The display will be 5.99-inch OLED and with 2K QHD resolution, protected by a Gorilla Glass 6. It will be available right away in 5G version and will have wireless charging for the battery, 3,500 mAh. It is not yet known how many cameras it will have at the rear, but it is likely that they will have Zeiss lenses.
