Kate Winslet torna sugli schermi con una mini serie crime drama della HBO, dove non sarà solo l’attrice protagonista ma anche la produttrice: Omicidio a Easttown. The series will air on Sky and NOW and is one of the most anticipated titles of this 2021.

Set in a small Pennsylvania town, Murder in Easttown tells the story of Mare Sheehan, played by Kate Winslet, a detective who investigates a complex murder case while her personal life falls apart. The series explores the darker side of closed communities that are disrupted by violence, and the themes of family and past dramas that can influence and define the characters' present. Scheduled to air June 9, all that's left to do is wait to see the Oscar-winning actress's new take on The Reader.

Murder in Easttown: what the mini-series is about

In Murder in Easttown, Winslet plays Detective Mare Sheehan, busy solving a sensitive murder case in suburban Philadelphia. Sheeran investigates the death of a young teenage mother, while dealing in parallel with a series of personal issues related to her past and recent.

On the one hand, Sheehan was the local celebrity for a record-breaking shot during a basketball game at her high school 25 years earlier. On the other, she's a detective who has been trying to solve the case of her classmate's daughter's disappearance for a year. This very case has put her to the test and has split the small community's opinion of her, who are skeptical of her investigative skills.

Omicide in Easttown: the cast and when it arrives

In addition to Winslet, the cast includes actors Guy Pearce as creative writing professor Richard Ryan, Julianne Nicholson who plays Lori Ross, best friend of Detective Sheehan, Jean Smart as Helen, the detective's mother, Angourie Rice as her daughter Siobahn, and Evan Peters as Colin Zabel, a young detective who will help the protagonist in the investigation.

Brad Ingelsby is the showrunner, screenwriter and executive producer, while Craig Zobel is directing. There is also an Italian name in the HBO mini-series: the original soundtrack is by Lele Marchitelli, who has already worked on The Young Pope and La Grande Bellezza.

HBO's 7-episode mini-series will arrive in Italy next June 9 at 9:15 pm on Sky, but it will also be possible to watch it on NOW.
