OnePlus 6, everything we know about features, price, release

The OnePlus 6 will be presented in March 2018: it will mount a Snapdragon 845 chispet supported by at least 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage

OnePlus over the years has grown from being one of the many Chinese smartphone companies to an established and respected brand. After the good success of the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T (the Chinese company's first smartphone to feature an 18:9 aspect ratio screen and a borderless design), developers' efforts are focusing on the first device to be launched in 2018: the One Plus 6.

The smartphone will be unveiled by June, the month in which OnePlus usually unveils its device. For the OnePlus 6, the company would seem to intend to change the design of the device and adopt a solution similar to the one present on the iPhone X. As confirmed by Carl Pei, founder of the company, the smartphone will have the notch, the indentation at the top of the screen, integrated for the first time by Apple on the iPhone X. The notch, however, will be able to be obscured via a software option that will slightly reduce the size of the smartphone.

The features of the OnePlus 6

Fast, Stable, Efficient. These are the three pillars that have guided the Chinese company for the development of the OnePlus 6. And to make a fast smartphone you can only start with the Snapdragon 845, the latest top-of-the-line chipset made by Qualcomm. In support there will be 8GB of RAM and an impressive 256GB of internal storage. These are not rumors, but news released on the official blog of OnePlus directly from the creator of the company. It is not said, however, that the OnePlus 6 will be available only in this version: according to the certification TEENA (Chinese body), the OnePlus 6 should also be marketed in the version 6 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of storage and in the version 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage.

Further information on how the OnePlus 6 may be comes from the presentation of the Oppo R15. Although it is a smartphone produced by another Chinese company, Oppo and OnePlus have always shared information for the development of their smartphones (many claim that the owners of the two companies are the same). Following the indications coming from the Oppo R15, the screen of the OnePlus 6 will be OLED and will have a diagonal of 6.28 inches with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and FullHD+ resolution. Still continuing with the front panel, as rumors suggest, it will be surrounded by very thin edges, so as to highlight the display. Where will be the notch, the iPhone X-style notch increasingly present on smartphones coming out in 2018. When it comes to the camera department, OnePlus has made some great strides in recent years. But with the OnePlus 6 could make the decisive leap in quality reaching the best cameraphones on the market. The rear camera should consist of two sensors, the main 16 Megapixel and the secondary 20 Megapixel. The front camera will be 16 Megapixel. According to the latest rumors, the OnePlus 6 will have IP67 or IP68 certification, so it will be resistant to dust, falls and water. To power it all, a 3,300 mAh battery with Dash Charge fast charging, while the operating system will be Android 8.1 Oreo in stock version.

The fingerprint reader will not be eliminated, but will be placed in the rear, as already happened on the OnePlus 5T. The only difference is the shape, which from the leaked images on the web would seem to be similar to that of the OnePlus 3. Another novelty on the security front will be an infrared sensor on the front to improve the unlocking of the smartphone through face recognition. The system will be very similar to the iPhone X s FaceID with 3D face scanning. From an image posted by Evan Blass on Twitter (journalist always very informed about the world of smartphones), the OnePlus 6 will have the 3.5mm audio jack. The back is made of glass, a first for a OnePlus smartphone. This should allow the smartphone to support wireless charging. Confirmed, however, the presence of the Alert Slider, the physical side button that allows you to quickly set the Ring or Do Not Disturb mode. This is one of the features most appreciated by OnePlus users and certainly could not miss on the new model.

When the OnePlus 6 will be released

The OnePlus will be presented on May 16 at an event that the Chinese company is organizing in London. Users will be able to attend by purchasing a ticket directly on the OnePlus website. The start is set for 18:00 Italian time.

As for the price, according to the latest news coming from China, it should increase compared to the OnePlus 5T. On Weibo, a Chinese micro-blogging site, an image appeared where the prices of the main top of the range devices coming out in 2018 are compared and next to the 8GB/256GB version of the OnePlus 6 it says $749. A price that brings it closer to all the main top of the range coming out in these months and that probably won't make fans of the brand happy.
