The OnePlus Concept One will be presented at CES 2020 and will have revolutionary technologies: the rear cameras disappear thanks to the glass that changes color
The announcement of OnePlus to participate in CES 2020 by presenting a prototype smartphone had given rise to many theories: the most credited spoke of the possibility of seeing the first foldable smartphone of the company. Those who hoped it would be so will be disappointed: with a video posted on its Twitter account, OnePlus has announced the first two innovative features of the OnePlus Concept One: the invisible cameras and the glass of the back that changes color.
The Chinese company has used the claim: "Alternate Design. Alternate Future" to announce the Concept One and this suggests that the device is really something innovative and unique. From the video posted on Twitter is also shown a small part of the screen that will surely have rounded edges. Also present is the side slider, a unique feature of OnePlus smartphones. The presence of the side slider and the curved edges of the screen are another confirmation that the OnePlus Concept One will not be a foldable smartphone, but a "normal" phone.
OnePlus Concept One, the smartphone that changes color
The technologies thought by OnePlus for the Concept One seem to be truly revolutionary. So far, companies had focused on developing a technology that would allow the front camera to be hidden under the screen, no one had focused on the back. OnePlus has worked together with the car company McLaren to develop this technology: the glass used to make the camera disappear is the same used for the sunroof of high-end cars and aircraft windows.
To hide the three rear cameras is used a special glass that changes color thanks to an electrical pulse: when they are not used they disappear and appear when the user has to take a picture. This does not exclude that OnePlus has developed something similar for the front, making a smartphone "without cameras".
The characteristics of the OnePlus Concept One
In addition to integrating innovative technologies, the OnePlus Concept One will also have a technical card from top of the range. On board will most likely be the Snapdragon 865 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. At least 6.5-inch screen with QuadHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
The smartphone will have the same photo compartment as the OnePlus 7T McLaren Edition, with 48-megapixel main sensor and 16-megapixel wide-angle camera.
OnePlus Concept One, release date and price
The smartphone is unlikely to be launched on the market anytime soon. And for this reason it is complicated to make predictions about the price of the Concept One as well. We are facing a device with innovative technologies, a bit like the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha. If it will ever be launched on the market, expect a very high price compared to other OnePlus devices.
