The OnePlus Z, the low-cost top-of-the-line smartphone on which the Chinese company is working, is back at the center of rumors and indiscretions. The device was supposed to debut between April and May along with the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, but the outbreak of the global pandemic has changed OnePlus' plans. The latest rumors help bring order to the device's technical specifications and possible release date.
The OnePlus Z is expected to be unveiled in the second half of July and debut on the market in the following weeks, in the middle of summer. Important news also with regard to the data sheet: initially it was assumed the presence of the chipset MediaTek Dimensity 820, low-cost processor with support for 5G, but in the end has ticked the Snpadragon 765G, SoC of the same level and that should ensure a little 'more reliability. The OnePlus Z will be in all respects a true top of the range, as evidenced by the 12GB of RAM and the triple rear camera.
The features of the OnePlus Z
The OnePlus Z ushers in a new season for the Chinese company that returns to compete in the mid-to-high end of the market. After focusing only on the premium sector that has led to a general increase in costs, OnePus has decided to launch a smartphone with excellent value for money. And seeing the data sheet of the OnePlus Z appeared on GeekBech (platform where manufacturers test devices before launching on the market), we are faced with a real top of the range.
On board there will be the Snapdragon 765G processor that supports super-fast network connection, with side by side 8-12GB of RAM and 128-256GB of internal memory depending on the model chosen. The screen will have a 6.5-inch diagonal with FullHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate.
In the back there is a triple camera with 48 Megapixel main sensor, 16 Megapixel wide angle and 13 Megapixel telephoto lens. On the front, however, there is a 16 Megapixel camera.
The battery should be 4000mAh with support for fast charging. The OnePlus Z will arrive on the market with Android 10 and the OxygenOS 10 interface, but soon the update to Android 11 should be available.
Price and OnePlus Z release date
According to the latest rumors, OnePlus would be preparing a presentation event for the first half of July, but there are no confirmations yet. As for the price of the OnePlus Z, the base version is expected to start at around 500 euros.
