Oppo, a low cost smartphone with revolutionary design is coming

A new low cost smartphone from the Oppo brand is coming: revolutionary honeycomb design for Ace 2 successor

A revolutionary and unique design with honeycomb structure is coming for the new low cost smartphone from the Chinese company Oppo. This is revealed by the patent filed with the Cnipa, China National Intellectual Property Administration, in China and the phone could be the successor of the Oppo Ace 2 model.

The new patent had been filed last March, but only in the last few hours it has been approved. The project includes 8 images and 7 color renders for the new smartphone, which in the display features a hole where the front camera will probably be housed. The uniqueness of the design of the new Oppo is due to the material used around the screen: a special carbon fiber that has a honeycomb structure, which gives the smartphone a robust look and is highlighted by a bright green and blue coloring, also patented by the Chinese brand.

Oppo, revolutionary honeycomb design

Oppo's new smartphone, which would be designed for the budget end of the market, presents in the patent images a design that could appeal especially to young people. The peculiarity lies in the honeycomb structure of the carbon fiber, which makes the smartphone to the eye robust and durable. From the renders you can see speakers both in the upper and lower part of the phone and a single physical button on the right, which is likely to be the power button. No volume buttons appear for this model, which could therefore be virtual. At the bottom of the smartphone, however, we find access to the SIM compartment and the USB Type C port, located at the bottom right.

Oppo, camera compartment is reminiscent of the Ace 2

The phone shows similarities with the Ace 2, so much so that many believe that it could turn out to be its successor. Images of the display with thin bezels and a curved edge show a hole in the top left corner, most likely intended for the front-facing camera, specifically a selfie camera. Similarities can also be seen in the design of the camera compartment, which in the renders appears to be embedded in a circular module on the back. The configuration seems to be quadruple and the size of the lenses are larger, reminiscent of more recent models such as the Oppo Reno 4.

Oppo, from patent to launch

At the moment this presented by Oppo in China is only a patent, but according to several rumors it could be the successor to the Ace 2, which could take the name Oppo Ace 3. The Ace series smartphone was first launched in China in October 2019, then the Ace 2 version arrived in April, and now it seems plausible that the new low-cost smartphone could be announced by the Chinese manufacturer next October.
